FACT CHECK · 1948, THE MANDATE AND PARTITION
Claim: The Mandate told Britain to ease Jewish immigration
TRUETHE ANSWER
Mandate Art. 6: 'facilitate Jewish immigration under suitable conditions' and 'encourage close settlement by Jews on the land'. Art. 2: 'secure the establishment of the Jewish national home'.
Art. 6 adds that the rights and position of other sections of the population must not be prejudiced. Quote that too if the room raises it.
